NYC:Prepared organizes and produces events for our two main constituencies: technologists and local relief/resilience leaders.
For Technologists
We help people contribute to the world’s best free/libre/open-source humanitarian aid solutions and manage the deployment of those solutions in New York City.
- Developer Orientations are open events in real and virtual space during which people can learn how to plug in and contribute to the FLO software projects that power NYC:Prepared tools.
- Work Sprints are focused hackathons wherein developers tackle a task list developed by the technology steering committee.
For Local Leaders
We empower leaders to work with technologies that improve their productivity and capacity to collaborate with others.
- Trainings are for people working on relief and resilience challenges in NYC. During these events, our team helps people troubleshoot their technology issues, trains them to use tools such as WordPress, Sahana EDEN and Google Drive, and registers them for NYC:Prepared.
- User Groups are facilitated gatherings of people who want to use, improve and support NYC:Prepared systems.
