Our alliance of technologists is making hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of software available to the NYC:Prepared community free of charge because we’re passionate about getting the world’s best software tools into the hands of New York City-based groups working on disaster relief and community resilience challenges.

Data Repository

Provided by Ontodia
Our data repository allows individuals and groups to upload, organize, share, preview, host, download, browse and search for files of all shapes and sizes. It contains over 100 datasets useful to communities such as elevation files, flood projections, community district boundaries, census tracts and more. Community members can request additional datasets and we’ll work with our data partners to make them available.
About CKAN
“CKAN is a powerful data management system that makes data accessible – by providing tools to streamline publishing, sharing, finding and using data. CKAN is aimed at data publishers wanting to make their data open and available.”

Knowledge Base

Provided by Grass Commons
We’ve put together a dynamic and flexible “wiki” that enables people to quickly upload personal stories, and build deep knowledge resources about complicated tasks. This system is designed to help people make choices about what tools and techniques they should use to overcome challenges associated with disaster relief and community resilience.
About Wagn
“Wagn is designed for continuously creating new ways to digest and use information by combining and recombining its parts. The basic building block of Wagn is called the card. Cards are very simple — they just have a name, a type, and some content. But by combining and connecting cards, Wagneers can create greater and greater wholes.”
